Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 11 June 2026 | Last Updated: 11 June 2026
Privacy at a glance: Roadly does not access your device's GPS or track your location. You type in where you want to go, and your trip history is stored only on your own device. We do not run ads, use advertising trackers, or sell your data.
Roadly ("we", "us", or "our") is operated by Forem Innovations. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Roadly mobile application (the "App") and our website at roadly.in (together, the "Services").
By downloading, accessing, or using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email and password if you sign up with email. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication (a Google service) and are never visible to us in plain text.
- Name, email address, and profile photo if you sign in with Google, as shared by your Google account.
You can browse and use core features of the App without creating an account.
Trip Information You Enter
- Origin and destination: the places you type in when planning a trip. These are entered manually by you — the App does not read your device's location.
- Trip preferences: vehicle type, fuel type, and route options you select, used to calculate toll charges and fuel cost estimates.
- AI planner queries: free-text trip requests you type into the AI route planner (for example, "plan a trip from Mumbai to Goa with rest stops").
What We Do NOT Collect
- No device location: the App does not request or use location permissions. It cannot access your GPS position.
- No contacts, photos, camera, or microphone: the App does not request these permissions.
- No advertising identifiers: the App contains no advertising or ad-tracking SDKs.
- No analytics trackers: the App does not currently include third-party analytics or behavioural tracking tools.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Authenticate you and maintain your account.
- Plan routes and calculate toll costs, fuel estimates, and travel times for the trips you request.
- Show relevant highway information along your chosen route, such as rest stops, fuel stations, EV charging points, and weather conditions.
- Power AI-assisted trip planning based on the queries you type.
- Respond to your support requests and feedback.
- Maintain the security of the Services and comply with applicable laws.
3. Where Your Data Is Stored
- Trip history stays on your device. Saved trips and favourites are stored locally in the App's storage (up to 50 trips) and are not uploaded to our servers. Uninstalling the App or clearing its data permanently deletes them.
- App preferences (such as your vehicle and fuel settings) are also stored locally on your device.
- Account data (email, name, profile photo) is stored with Firebase Authentication, operated by Google.
4. Third-Party Services That Process Your Requests
To plan routes and show travel information, the App sends the trip details you enter (such as place names and route coordinates — never your device's GPS location) to the following service providers:
- Google Maps Platform (Google LLC) — map display, place search and autocomplete, and driving directions. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) — account sign-in and management.
- OpenRouter — processes your AI route-planner queries, which are forwarded to large-language-model providers to generate trip plans. Do not include sensitive personal information in AI queries.
- OpenWeather — weather conditions and forecasts for locations along your route.
- Mapbox, Mappls (MapmyIndia), and OpenStreetMap/Nominatim — points of interest such as rest stops, dhabas, and fuel stations along your route.
- Open Charge Map — EV charging station locations.
Toll plaza and highway data is sourced from public datasets published by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI); this involves no personal data about you.
These providers receive only the data needed to answer each request and process it under their own privacy policies. We do not send them your identity alongside route queries, except where the provider itself manages your account (Google Sign-In / Firebase).
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers. Beyond the service providers listed above, we may disclose information only:
- When required by law — to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or lawful request by a governmental authority.
- To protect rights and safety — to enforce our terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Roadly, our users, or the public.
- In a business transfer — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal data.
6. Data Retention
- Trip history and preferences remain on your device until you delete them in the App, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App.
- Account data is retained while your account is active. When your account is deleted, the associated data held in Firebase Authentication is deleted.
- Support correspondence is retained as long as needed to resolve your request and meet legal obligations.
7. Data Security
All communication between the App and external services occurs over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Account credentials are managed by Firebase Authentication with industry-standard protections. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Subject to applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delete your account and associated personal data — contact us at the address below and we will complete the deletion within a reasonable period.
- Withdraw consent for processing that relies on consent.
- Grievance redressal — raise a complaint with us, and if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.
You can also reset your password at any time using the "Forgot password" option in the App.
9. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Third-Party Links
The App and website may contain links that open third-party websites or apps (for example, navigation apps, the Google Play Store, or fuel station websites). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
11. Cookies and Analytics on Our Website
Our website at roadly.in may use cookies and similar technologies to remember preferences and measure site usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings. The mobile App itself does not use cookies or analytics trackers.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if we add new features or integrate new services. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the "Last Updated" date above. For material changes, such as introducing analytics or location-based features, we will provide additional notice in the App. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
13. Contact Us
